Dryer Suicide

So my clothes dryer tried to commit suicide last night. Just before turning in for the night I remembered I had towels in the dryer, when I went out to fetch them I was surprised to find the dryer still running. I was puzzled as I thought it should have been done a long time ago, guess I was mistaken. Well as soon as I grabbed the towels out I knew I was not mistaken. Those towels were beyond piping hot. As you can see in the photo they were about 232° F. The timing dial had not budged so that is probably broken. That is about the only thing I haven’t replaced on the old beast. The outside top of the dryer was a toasty 163° F.

OSF Newport Ceiling Tile Repairs 2-19-2010

This afternoon was a lesson in humility. I had hoped someone else would have done this menial task before today. I had no such luck, So I ended up having to scrape all the old mortar off the old tiles as I need to reuse them because you can’t buy new ones to match the 35 year old tiles. So this is what I did for FOUR hours, thankfully I had my MP3 player on hand. Thank God for the inventor of the MP3 player.

As I was leaving for the day my GM told me he had someone try to scrape the old mortar off but that person couldn’t get any off and was afraid of breaking the tile so they stopped. They either picked one of the few tiles that had “real” mortar or they were just a sissy. Normally a crappy job like this would have ruined my day, but for some reason I was able to take it in stride and just do it, someone had to.

Tile project Feb 15-18

With Alpha, Third Wednesday and LG on top of this project I was too busy to worry about anything, which was a nice change from last week. Once I catch up on some sleep I hope to tackle the weekend with a full head of steam.

Tile Tuesday & Alpha

Sort of long day at work today, but thankfully had enough time to get presentable for Alpha. For the first time the convenience of having dinner waiting for me crossed my mind. I have a good group, we couldn’t quite get traction on the topic “Why Did Jesus Have to Die”, we couldn’t seem to get past talking about the How. Not that that was a bad thing, in fact it didn’t feel like the group was ready for such a discussion. It is interesting that 2 of the couples are unequally yoked and it is the women that are farther from faith. So far this week is on a much better track than last.

Monday Done – next

So another Monday is in the can. Woke up with mental hangover from Sunday, but nothing a honest days worth of tile work couldn’t cure. Though I must say that I made more measuring mistakes and chipped more tiles today than the last few tile projects combined. All the difficult cuts are done so it should be smoother sailing the rest of the project.

Chockfull V Day

What a long and varied Sunday. 9AM RockHarbor’s last worship song “Revelation Song” perfect timing. I really needed it right then, been a while since I’ve had any salty discharge (the joyful kind) at church, if the song had gone another 5 minutes I’m not quite sure what would have happened. Went straight to Soul Survivor’s 11AM with Lauren, she was not having a good day – buzz kill for me. Thankfully I had a buzz going so I was just brought down to Earth. Was surprised and happy to see my YWAM queen Christine there back from New Zealand, unfortunately it wasn’t the time to catch up.

Spent the rest of the day with Lauren giving EBay lessons with some unpleasant discussions sprinkled here and there. I was burned out by the end of the day and in no mood to socialize, but alas I had like 10 pounds of cupcakes I bought the day before for Kayleen and Co’s party. So I forced myself over there for an appearance and to drop off my cupcakes. I ended up having a good time and staying for almost two hours. Being a bunch of twentysomethings it felt like being at a spag party only with less booze.  Apparently it felt a little too familiar as I was surprised to learn that I can put my foot in my mouth without having had any beer, go figure. Though it is a good thing as a few years ago I wouldn’t have been able to open my mouth at all without a couple brews under the belt.

I rounded out the night with cupcake delivery to my friend Monica, who had declined my dragging her along to Kayleen’s party. Anyway I didn’t plan on visiting, but she invited me in and we chatted till 11 or so. I was trying to cheer her up but she ended up getting me to talk more than she did. So much for getting to bed early.

OSF Newport Ceiling Tile Repairs 2-12-2010

So Spag had a water pipe leak above the women’s restroom, which resulted in a a sagging ceiling and tiles falling off. So today I tore out the damaged area and installed new green board. Next week I’ll have the fun off reinstalling the old tiles on the ceiling.

What is Daniel?

Okay so I’m a bit behind the times, recently it was going around Facebook to post your name’s definition from the UrbanDictionary.com . Whatever Daniel that wrote this definition has been smoking too much Daniel.

DANIEL:
This is a difficult name to define because it defies many boundaries of human perception, let alone various languages. One of the closest translations that experts give is God or many other variations of that general idea.
Other definitions are thought to be:
Tao
Chi
The Great Spirit
Chuck Norris
Energy
Infinity
Sublime
ect
Despite the fact that various names have been pinned to Daniel, its seems that all of the above examples (including that of God)cannot even withstand the magnitude of Daniel.
The reason this name continues to elude even the brightest of human minds is that the idea of Daniel cannot possibly exist in a dimensional state. Daniel is so powerful, it defies all laws of this or any other universe. Recent studies have shown that people who have attempted to comprehend this name have either disappeared, died spontaneously, or driven themselves into a pertinent state of insanity and/or catatonia. One common belief is that Daniel is possibly the grounds on which everything and nothing is based. It seems to surpass the idea of infinity. Quantum physicists report that this Daniel is Everything and Nothing. It or He is said to have unexplainable connections with the String and Superstring Theories as Daniel resonates within every single layer of the multi-dimensional complex and yet still exists beyond that point which is where scientists have lost the trail. Various theologists and spiritual leaders believe that Daniel is one who is, as they say, “The Answer”. All attempts to understand this idea of Daniel have failed.

Daniel. Nothing else can describe him.
