Robinwood Church Alpha’s Last Night Spring 2009
|
Went to dinner at El Ranchito for Erin’s CSULB graduation with a MSW.
so I’m driving home from Alpha and I’m waiting at a stoplight and suddenly my truck is kind of bouncing around in place, like all of a sudden it was in desperate need of a tuneup an idle so rough that stalling should be imminent. I look at the car next to me and nothing seems odd. I look at my tach and it is steady at 500 what is going on? Could that have been an earthquake???
Sure enough it was, I got confirmation about a minute later on the radio. 4.7 or so in Hawthorne.
So I braved the nasty traffic to check out the AntiTax Rally at Tom’s Farms in Corona. It took me 105 minutes to get there, the trip back took 35. There were zillions of cars, though the crowd didn’t seem like it was overwhelming. I don’t even want to hazard a guess. They had a guy in a helicopter taking pix so I imagine we’ll have a crowd estimate next week.
Google is only helpful if you can get hand-grenade close with your search term. So I heard an Artist’s name on the radio today that I was interested in, I heard something like “El Rayma Hayloff” ” well Google gave me nothing, fortunately I did know the correct song title so I found it on Amazon that way. The actual name was “Elroy Mihailov”.
Reminds me of an artists name I struggled with for weeks back in the preInternet days. It seemed that on the rare occasions that they actually mentioned the song they just played the KROQ DJ was always Richard Blade (a Brit). He would say it so fast and with his accent it always sounded like he was saying something like “Chaka Khan”. I don’t remember where or how I finally figured out who sung that song but I do remember the first time I heard Richard Blade say his
“Chaka Khan” and I still couldn’t believe he was actually saying “Sinead O’Connor”.
