Many years ago ten maybe? I started the read the Bible NIV version. It was an intellectual pursuit. Lauren had commented that I’ve read many of the “classics” shouldn’t the Bible be included as well. And as well it should. Being a nonbeliever or a Deist at best I started at the beginning, Genesis. I know you Christians out there are cringing at the thought, but that is where I started nevertheless. I don’t remember exactly how far I got into the Old Testament maybe the beginning of Samuel. Numbers really took the wind out of my sails.
A couple weeks ago I went looking for my Bible and couldn’t find it. I asked Lauren if she had it and she did. She asked if I just wanted to look up what it says about divorce to hold it over her. I told her no. She suggested I try the New American Standard. She dropped both off at the house. I ended up using the NAS.
Anyway I did some research on how to read the Bible and praying on the Net and it was pretty much a given that I should start with the New Testament, which I did tonight.
I’ve committed myself to read every night. I’m also going to pray before hand something I’ve never really done in earnest before other than the obligatory “oh please let me win the lottery” crap.
