Indoor Rock Climbing

Steve has introduced the kids to rock climbing and Crystal has taken to it like a duck to water. She is doing adult level climbs. Andrew is also progressing along and sure isn’t afraid of reaching the ceiling. Paul didn’t join in today. Apparently he is in my camp and would rather keep his feet on the floor at least for now. We have a facility here in Costa Mesa called Rockreation. Don’t forget to check out the rest of the photos.

Frank’s 82nd Birthday

We had a small gathering for Frank’s birthday. Lauren helped Crystal make the cake and of course it turned out beautiful.

Orange County Fair

We finally made it over to the fair for a couple hours today. Lauren’s two tole painting entries took a first and second place. It took much longer than usual to find her pieces, which was getting quite alarming considering there was not that many entries in the Home and Hobbies building at least it seemed so. Finally after looking over the whole place again we spotted them in a locked case. Had some over priced sandwiches, Lauren had a hot pastrami I had a beef dip. They tasted good but for some strange reason had no “filling” sensation. For $13 bucks I’d rather have had 3/4 of a Rubino’s pizza. We then moseyed over to the fine arts building. We spotted two of Julie’s sculptures but didn’t realize she had a third hopefully that one received a ribbon. We will have to look for the other one another time as Lauren’s ankle was bothering her and we headed home after a quick viewing of the paintings.

Transformers

From what little I’ve seen – Michael Bay just might have a blockbuster Summer SciFi movie in the works for 2007. It seems to have been a long time since I’ve seen a really good chewing gum adventure. I had high hopes for War of the Worlds but it just didn’t deliver as far as one of those movies that you can mindlessly watch over and over again. It is so bad lately I stopped buying DVD movies unseen.

Laura’s 21st Birthday Masquerade Gala

Lauren’s masquerade outfit

Well went to my first masquerade party tonight and a Goth one at that. It was held at Renee & Bruce’s place. Laura and company did a nice job preparing. Especially all the original artwork for the evening. Lauren and I got into the spirit of the evening and donned our masks. Not everyone participated, but I wore my mask from start to finish.

The party broke into 3 groups the Goth folk, the parent folk, and the computer game aficionado group. Lauren not being a shy person mingled freely across state lines. Laura made her own cake – a Goth Doll Cake of course and a program detailing her court. Which by the way was rather informative as I found out that I’ve been had the wrong name for one of Laura’s friends for like 5 years? I always heard it as Alexi instead of Alessy. Well that shouldn’t surprise anyone that knows how well I can decipher song lyrics.

We purchased our masks on Ebay – of course. Mine came from a fellow in Texas, who apparently did not have pink eye. Lauren’s was an Italian made mask bought from a bloke in England.

Lots of pictures are in the gallery. And no that isn’t really Lauren above. A good time had by all.
