Tuesday means new DVD release day, I managed to stop by Fry’s after work to pick up American Wedding and maybe S.W.A.T. if they were on sale, otherwise I’d get them at Costco which was my next stop. Anyway they didn’t have American Wedding, but they did have Sex and the City 5 on sale (which I’d forgotten came out this week as well. I also picked up S.W.A.T. and “A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum”.
I go get inline and wait my turn to be told which of the 40 registers to go to. Now this is some tough job – standing on an elevated platform and watching registers to become available and relay that info to the next customer in line. I guess the woman working today didn’t quite get the jist of the job on training day. She sends the guy in front of me to number 9 then right after him sends me to number 10. As I walk down the aisle I notice that there are no lights on at 9 or 10 which is odd as they have these poles with a red or green flashing light to let everyone, including the line coordinating engineer, know the status of that register. I’m a couple paces behind when he reaches number 9 and I hear the woman at number 10 (no one is at 9) say why is she sending me customers I’m not even open. Then I show up. Number 10 girl takes care of him and she has number 12 woman take me next. Not a problem for me or the guy in front of me, but what exactly was that “line commander” thinking? Did she sleep through her training, does she think she is supposed to avoid registers with lights on? I just wonder. We must be getting past full employment in our area.
Off to Costco after a quick stop at PetSmart for 50 pounds (2 weeks worth) of cat litter {we have 1 cat.} The parking lot was just packed it was getting toward 6pm and I had thoughts of skipping it, but decided not to wimp out. Got in and figured the lines would be horrible, but they were surprisingly short, I wonder where all the people were. I found them all packed around the free food tables strategically placed across one aisle from each other, causing one hell of a bottleneck. I’m trying to get through but the “nice polite” lady infront parks right in the only opening between the two while talking on her cell phone to get a sample. After deciding against driving her against the Eggo freezer door and then repeatly pummeling her with my cart, I waited for an opening and got the hell away from this feeding frenzy. A quick stop by the DVD section reveals no American Wedding or anything else of interest, I wonder if terrorists have blown up the delivery truck with the AW DVDS, nah I would have heard about that on KFI. The line was short and I got out at under $100 a small miracle.
