My First Car — Not!
Riding my Stumpjumper one day I’d spotted a BMW 530 on a used car lot at Harbor and Victoria. This fellow seemed to be calling my name. It looked to be in very good condition, but brown ( I can live with that ). Finally I decide to check into it futher. Problem is I don’t have my license yet. I just havent felt the need so I never actually got it yet. I don’t have a car (duh) and the only time I go anywhere far it’s with my one of my friends who have cars themselves. Anyway, I have my friend Darryl test drive it, its not up to his corner hugging needs but it seems to run okay. I arranged to have the car looked over by my mechanic (ha ha) a BMW mechanic. So we drive it over to Peter Law Imports on Superior Ave and have them do a prepurchase inspection. He gives me in details, he says it has been in an accident involving the front end. It’s fixed but…. The valves are noisy so a valve job is in my future also the 530 automatic transmissions are notoriously unreliable. He suggests I pass on this one and recommends I look for a clean BMW 2002. So back to the dealer and the end of my Brown Beemer affair.
